Families

New England came to the Cobequid Townships of Truro, Onslow & Londonderry and settled upon grants of land. Others came later - the Lowland Scots and Swiss Montbelairds.... they settled north of the Cobequid Mountains and founded the communities of Tatamagouche, Waughs River, New Annan, Brule etc... there were also the Highland Scots who settled within the Cobequid Mountains in the districts of Earltown & Kemptown. The Stewiacke areas were mostly settled by the next generations of the original founding families, as were the western areas of the county at Economy and Five Islands.
